About this spot

Located at the foot of Mount Koshiō (胡四王山), which Miyazawa Kenji loved throughout his life, this memorial museum introduces Kenji's life and works. Exhibition rooms themed around his literary worlds such as "Galactic Station" and "Bird Theater" follow in succession, presenting a comprehensive and accessible view of Kenji as a multi-faceted figure—poet, agricultural instructor, and scientist. Wildflowers that Kenji loved are planted in the garden outside the building, where you can feel the richness of Hanamaki's nature firsthand. It's an unmissable destination for visitors to Hanamaki, with exhibitions that appeal to both children and adults. The displays become even more enjoyable if you familiarize yourself with his works such as "The Restaurant of Many Orders" and "The Fourth Drafts of Wind" before your visit.

2026年8月8日(土)19時30分から21時まで、北上川河川敷の朝日橋〜朝日大橋間で打ち上げられる約8,000発の花火大会です。宮沢賢治が「イーハトーブ」と呼んだ岩手・花巻の空に広がる大輪の花火は、川面に映る光の帯とともに幻想的な光景を作り出します。スターマインや大玉の連発が夜空を埋め尽くすフィナーレは、川の流れに響く音の迫力とともに体に刻み込まれる体験です。賢治の詩情が息づく街で楽しむ夏の花火は、1日をかけて積み重ねてきた旅の記憶と相まって、忘れられない夜になります。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は主催者の公式情報で当日確認を。終演後は会場周辺の道路や駐車場が大変混雑します。フィナーレ後はしばらく河川敷で余韻を楽しんでから、人波が落ち着いた頃に移動するのがおすすめ。足元が暗いため小さなライトを持参すると安心です。

Tips

Located about 15 minutes from Hanamaki Station by bus or car, on the slopes of Mount Koshiō. Admission is 350 yen for adults. There is also a combination ticket with the adjacent Ihatov Hall—confirm at the reception desk. Parking available. Visiting in the early afternoon allows for relatively leisurely viewing.
