Located in the heart of Matsuyama, Okaido is the city's largest shopping street, with an arcade stretching roughly 400 meters. Long-established Japanese sweet shops, local restaurants, cafes, and general stores line the street, which bustles with both locals and tourists. Stopping by here in the early evening before the fireworks festival is a great way to pick up drinks or a light snack, or simply take a relaxed break before the evening's viewing. Walking through here together with the adjoining Ginten-gai lets you soak up the atmosphere of Matsuyama, making it a good warm-up before heading out in the evening.

Tips

Right in front of Iyotetsu Okaido Station, and also close to the Matsuyama Castle ropeway station, making it easy to get around. Crowds increase in the area around the venue after evening on the day of the fireworks festival, so picking up drinks and an evening snack during this time helps you avoid the congestion near the venue. To reach Mitsuhama, take an Iyotetsu train from Okaido or Matsuyama-shi Station to Mitsu Station or Minatoyama Station, whichever is closest.

About 1 hour 15 minutes. It's best to finish your shopping and take your break during the calmer time before evening.
