Watch the Niihama Ryōryō Fireworks Festival as Approximately 8,000 Fireworks Illuminate the Night Sky
About this spot
Starting at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026, this is the fireworks festival that represents Niihama's summer. Approximately 8,000 fireworks—starmines and large peony shells—are launched from the north side of Hirakatabashi Bridge on the Kokuryo River riverbed, filling the night sky one after another. The shimmering light reflecting on the water's surface creates a fantastical scene unique to a waterside setting. The proximity of the launch site and the powerful sound of the fireworks resonating through your body are something special to experience from the riverbed viewing area. The hour of light and sound that envelops the Kokuryo River on a summer night will become a memory deeply etched in your family's hearts.

Turn this into a day plan with stall time includedTips
Confirm on the day of the festival whether the event will be held in case of inclement weather by checking Niihama City or the official festival announcement. Immediately after the finale, the surrounding roads and parking lot exits become very congested. After the finale, it's recommended to stay in place for a while to savor the lingering impressions and move only after the flow of people has calmed. The path home may be dark in places, so bringing a small light is reassuring.
Best time to visit
Coordinated with the 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. performance time. Being in place 30 minutes before the start allows you to enjoy it with a relaxed atmosphere.
