About this spot

Originating from Mount Ishizuchi, the Kamo River is a clear stream flowing through the heart of Saijo, and its riverside green space is popular with locals for walks and recreation. Walk along the riverside bank and, on clear days, the ridgeline of Mount Ishizuchi, the symbol of Saijo, spreads out in front of you for an open, expansive view. The river breeze feels pleasant, and in the clear waters of the Kamo River, you may spot families playing in the summer. Close to Isono Shrine, a leisurely riverside walk paired with your shrine visit makes a great refresher before the evening's fireworks festival. It's also a great spot for kids to pick up stones on the riverbank or play by the water.

Tips

Within walking distance of Isono Shrine. Some rocks can be slippery when heading down to the riverbank, so hold small children's hands. Summer sun is strong at this time of day, so don't forget a hat and something to drink. If playing in the river, bringing sandals and a change of clothes is reassuring.
