An ancient shrine long cherished by the community as the chief shrine of Saijo City, situated within the shrine forest along the Kamo River. Upon entering the approach, large, venerable trees cover the sky, and the summer sun's rays are softened, enveloping you in a tranquility like another world. It is known as the main stage for the October Saijo Festival (西条まつり), where numerous festival floats (yatai/danjiri) parade through, and is an indispensable presence in recounting Saijo's history and culture. The grounds are not overly expansive, making them suitable for leisurely walks with small children. Before tonight's lively fireworks festival, enjoy a moment of cool respite at this quiet shrine.

2026年7月25日(土)20時から21時まで、壬生川駅正面線(旭新開)を会場に開催されるにゅうがわ花火大会です。約6,000発の花火が西条の夜空を1時間にわたって彩り、地元の夏を代表する一大イベントとして多くの人に親しまれています。周囲が開けた会場は視界が広く、頭上いっぱいに広がる花火をダイナミックに楽しめます。スターマインや大玉の尺玉など多彩な演目が続き、フィナーレの連続打ち上げは音と光が重なり合う圧巻の迫力。家族みんなで顔を上げて見守る1時間は、夏の西条の忘れられない思い出になるはずです。
Tips
荒天時の開催可否は西条市や大会主催者の公式発表を当日早めに確認してください。終了後は壬生川駅が大変混み合うため、花火終了後しばらく会場周辺で余韻を楽しんでから移動する時間差帰宅がおすすめ。帰りの予讃線の時刻は事前にチェックを。足元が暗い場所もあるので、スマートフォンのライトを活用して安全に帰りましょう。

About 15 minutes by car from Mioigawa Station, or about 20 minutes on foot from Saijo Station. Shrine worship is free. Adjacent to the Kamo River, you can also enjoy riverside walks in addition to the shrine visit. The ground is paved with stone and gravel, so wear comfortable walking shoes.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour required. In the afternoon, dappled sunlight filters through the grounds, which remain cool, and the atmosphere of worship feels calm.
