Registered in 2000 as a constituent asset of the UNESCO World Heritage site "Gusuku and Related Sites of the Ryukyu Kingdom," this is the highest-ranking sacred site of the Ryukyu Kingdom. Deep within a lush subtropical forest, worship sites formed by massive rocks stacked together are scattered throughout, and a sacred atmosphere unchanged since the kingdom era pervades. Squeezing through the rock crevice of the innermost "Sangui" (三庫理), a mystical space unfolds with Kudaka Island visible below. The origin of the Yonabaru Otsunaiki Festival also lies in traditional ceremonies of the Ryukyu Kingdom, making this a fitting place to visit to enhance your anticipation for tonight's festival.

与那原大綱曳まつりは、琉球王朝時代から続く伝統の綱引き行事を現代に受け継ぐ、与那原町最大の夏祭りです。東西に分かれた綱引きの熱戦と、勇壮な演舞が祭り全体を盛り上げ、フィナーレには夜空を彩る花火が打ち上げられます。与那古浜公園と御殿山青少年広場を舞台に、地域の人々の熱気と夏の夜の海風が交わる特別な時間。花火は海辺の会場から打ち上がるため、海面に光が映える瞬間も楽しみのひとつです。琉球の伝統と夏の夜空が一体となるクライマックスを、ゆっくり味わいましょう。

開催時間の詳細は当日の大会公式アナウンスで確認してください。終了後は会場周辺の道路や駐車場が大変混雑するため、花火終了後はしばらく会場内や浜辺で余韻を楽しんでから移動するのがおすすめです。帰りの車のルートは複数確認しておくと安心です。

About 5 minutes by car from Chinen Cape Park. Purchase tickets at Nanjo City Local Specialty Hall (before Seifa Utaki). Admission is 300 yen for adults. As a sacred site, keep your voice down and refrain from eating or drinking; observe proper etiquette while visiting. The subtropical forest has insects and steps, so sturdy walking shoes are essential. During busy times, there may be a wait to enter.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes required. The forest's mystical atmosphere is especially felt during afternoon hours when dappled sunlight filters through.
