A small island floating in the Japan Sea just a short distance from Tojinbo. Connected to the mainland by the 224-meter-long vermillion Ooshima Bridge (雄島橋), crossing it reveals a serene natural environment. The entire island is covered with basalt rock formations and forest, with a walking path along the coast that you can complete at a leisurely pace. The island features the Ooshima Lighthouse (雄島灯台) and Ominato Shrine (大湊神社), and the approximately 20-30 minute course walking amid the scent of the rocky shore and sound of waves is perfect for refreshing yourself away from Tojinbo's bustle. The crystal-clear sea color and reef landscape possess the wild beauty characteristic of the Japan Sea.

2026年8月11日(火・祝)19時30分から20時30分まで、三国サンセットビーチと九頭竜川ボートパーク一帯で開催される三国花火大会の観覧スポットです。約15,000発の打ち上げ花火が九頭竜川河口の開けた空と日本海の水平線を舞台に次々と開き、北陸を代表する夏の花火大会として多くの人に親しまれています。砂浜から見上げる大玉やスターマインは遮るものがなく、花火の音と光が正面から迫ってくる迫力は格別です。日本海の潮風と波の音が重なる中で楽しむ1時間は、この1日のクライマックスにふさわしい時間です。
Tips
花火大会当日は会場周辺の道路が大変混雑します。公共交通機関の利用か、早めの駐車場確保を強くおすすめします。終了後はえちぜん鉄道三国駅への道が混み合うため、フィナーレ後は砂浜で少し余韻を楽しんでから時間差での帰宅が得策です。荒天時の開催可否は大会公式発表で当日確認してください。

About 3 minutes by car from Tojinbo, or about 15 minutes on foot. The rocky shoreline becomes slippery when wet, so wear easy-walking shoes. Follow the one-way directional signs on the island's walking path for smooth progress. There are no shops or facilities, so bring drinks beforehand.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour required. In the afternoon sunlight, the sea's transparency and rock formations are beautifully visible.
