The riverbank of the Nagiki River (長木川), which flows through the center of Odate City, is the venue for the Odate Daimonji Festival Fireworks Display (大館大文字まつり花火大会). Spectators begin to gather from the evening, and as leisure sheets spread across the riverbank, festival excitement builds. Watching the colors of the sunset change as they reflect on the river's surface is a quiet pleasure before the fireworks begin. As the 20:10 start time approaches, the lights and bustle of the food stalls color the riverbank at night. Prepare insect repellent and a light jacket here to get ready for comfortable viewing.

Tips

About a 15-20 minute walk from Odate Station (大館駅). Roads around the venue may be restricted on the festival day, so check traffic information in advance through Odate City's official announcements. If you want to get drinks or snacks from the food stalls, doing so early before the show starts is recommended, as lines are shorter then.

About 1 hour 15 minutes. It is reassuring to secure your spot at least an hour before the show starts.
