Around the west exit of Takasaki Station (高崎駅), shopping malls, shopping streets, and supermarkets gather, making it Takasaki's largest downtown area and a convenient place to shop before the fireworks. This is the best time to look for souvenirs related to Gunma specialties like daruma dolls (だるま) or Takasaki pasta (高崎パスタ), or to stock up on drinks and snacks to bring to the venue from a convenience store or supermarket. Since the area around the fireworks venue becomes very crowded at night, it is reassuring to prepare your food and drinks here. Cool off inside the shopping buildings and get your energy ready before the fireworks.

Tips

About 20 minutes by local bus from the Kannonyama bus stop to Takasaki Station. Coin lockers around the station tend to already be in heavy use at this time, so keep your luggage to a minimum. Traveling to the fireworks venue on foot or by bicycle is the most realistic option, as parking near the venue fills up from early morning.

About 1 hour 45 minutes. Before evening, the crowds have not yet built up, so you can prepare at a leisurely pace.
