About this spot

This museum makes use of the former office of the Jomo Muslin Company, built in Meiji 37 (1904). It houses exhibits telling the history of Tatebayashi's prosperity in the modern spinning industry, and its Western-style exterior stands out in the townscape. The interior is small and can be toured quickly, making it a good stop before the fireworks festival. Located right next to the castle ruins, it's a spot that captures both the history of the castle town and its modern industrial history, very much a Tatebayashi experience. It can also be fun to walk around with children, talking about how old buildings like this used to be used.

Tips

A few minutes' walk from Tatebayashi Castle Yume Hiroba (館林城ゆめひろば). Admission is about 100 yen for adults (please confirm in advance). It is often closed on Mondays, so check the opening days and hours on the official website before visiting. It's also a good spot to cool off for a bit inside.
