The Shimanto Citizen Festival Cool Evening Fireworks Festival is a citizen-organized festival fireworks display that closes out the summer of Shimanto City. Approximately 6,000 fireworks launch from the Shimanto River riverbed, and the 30-minute display of blossoming flowers across the wide river surface has a scale befitting Japan's last pristine stream. The light of the fireworks reflected on the water surface, spreading and flickering across the water's surface, offers a special view only available from the riverbed viewing area. The composition of fireworks with the Red Iron Bridge as a silhouette is an iconic image of Shimanto's summer. The 30-minute finale enjoyed together with local people in the warm atmosphere of the citizen festival is a fitting conclusion to your day's journey.

Check the official announcement from Shimanto City or the festival organizers regarding whether the event will be held in case of bad weather. After the event ends, surrounding roads and parking lot congestion becomes severe, so it's recommended to stagger your departure by lingering on the riverbed to savor the afterglow before leaving. Use lights when walking along the dark riverbed path on the way back, and be careful to manage valuables.

Coordinated with the 8:00 PM - 8:30 PM event time. Arrive 30 minutes early and position yourself where the water surface is visible to also enjoy the fireworks' reflection on the water.
