The Kagami River (鏡川) flowing through central Kochi is a clear stream beloved by citizens for strolling and recreation. Midori no Hiroba is a green space developed along the riverside and serves as the main viewing area for tonight's fireworks festival. In the evening, the river breeze is refreshing, and spreading out your dinner from food stalls or takeout while waiting for the show begins is part of the fun. As darkness falls, the riverside fills with spectators, so secure your spot with a leisure sheet by around 7 PM. The city lights and sunset reflecting on the water's surface create a special atmosphere before the fireworks.

Tips

On fireworks festival day, roads around the riverside become congested from evening onward. Public transportation or walking is recommended. Nearby convenience stores and vendors may sell out early, so prepare drinks and food in advance. Restrooms become crowded, so use them with plenty of time before the start.

Best time to visit

Plan for approximately 1 hour 10 minutes. Enjoy the gentle shift of sky colors from sunset to fireworks at a leisurely pace by the riverside.
