Yonago Castle Ruins is a castle ruin park located on Minato Mountain at approximately 90 meters elevation at the northern edge of Yonago City center. The structural remains of an early modern castle built in the early 1600s are well preserved along with stone walls and designated as a National Historic Site. Ascending to the castle tower foundation, you'll be treated to a 360-degree panorama: the narrow silhouette of Lake Nakaumi and Yumigahama Peninsula spread out below, and on clear days, even the majestic peak of Mount Daisen in the distance. From here, you can also confirm the location of the Yonago Port wharf where fireworks will be launched tonight, so checking the venue location during the day ensures smooth movement at night. The walking paths along the stone walls are well-maintained, allowing families to leisurely stroll around.

米子がいな祭花火大会は、2026年8月9日(日)20時から米子港岸壁を会場に開催されます。「がいな」とは山陰地方の方言で「大きい・すごい」を意味する言葉で、その名にふさわしい約4,000発が中海の夜空に次々と打ち上がります。海に面した岸壁から眺める花火は視界を遮るものがなく、大輪の花火が水面に映る光景も見事です。晴れた夜には遠く大山のシルエットを背景に花火が開く、米子ならではの風景が広がります。フィナーレの連発では、港の夜空全体が光に包まれる圧巻のクライマックスが待っています。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は米子がいな祭実行委員会の公式発表で必ず確認してください。終了後は米子港周辺の道路と米子駅周辺が大変混雑します。電車をご利用の場合はJR米子駅の帰りの時刻を事前に確認し、終了後は少し時間をずらして移動するのがおすすめです。足元が暗くなるため、スマートフォンのライト機能や小型ライトを活用して安全に帰路につきましょう。

Tips

About 15 minutes walk from JR Yonago Station, or convenient access by bicycle or taxi from the station plaza. Admission is free. Some of the steps leading up to the castle tower foundations are steep, so wear comfortable shoes. Summer afternoons have strong sunlight, so remember to bring water and a hat. After descending, you can proceed directly to the adjacent Minato Mountain Park.
