About this spot

This park is set on Cape Hinokami, southwest of central Makurazaki, and offers an excellent vantage point overlooking both the East China Sea and Makurazaki Port. On clear days, Mt. Kaimon, also known as Satsuma Fuji, rises beyond the sea, and its majestic view lets you feel the richness of Kagoshima's nature. With a grassy plaza and walking paths in place, it is an easy environment for young children to walk around in. Checking the layout of Makurazaki Port, where tonight's fireworks will launch, from this elevated spot helps you picture where to view them later. With its pleasant sea breeze, it is also a perfect place to rest in the early afternoon.

Tips

About a 10-minute drive from Roadside Station Makurazaki. Admission to the park is free. The cape can be windy on some days, so watch that your hat does not blow away. During the strong summer sun, do not forget sunscreen and to stay hydrated. The walking paths are paved, but areas near the rocks can be slippery, so keep an eye on children at all times.

About 1.5 hours. This is the time of day when the blue sea and the view of Mt. Kaimon look their best in the afternoon light
