About this spot
Known as the "Flower Temple," Hasedera Temple offers a perfect vantage point from its observation platform overlooking Yuigahama Beach and the Kamakura streetscape. Taking a moment to view the sea you're about to swim in from this height is a unique pleasure of this itinerary. The main temple image, the Eleven-Faced Kannon, is one of Japan's largest wooden Buddhist statues. The grounds also feature the beloved Nagomi Jizou statue popular with children, offering no shortage of photo opportunities. After your prayers, head to the beach.

鎌倉駅からもっとも近い海水浴場で、2026年は7月1日(水)から8月31日(月)まで開設。遊泳時間は9時から17時までです。遠浅で波が穏やかな約900mの砂浜はライフガードが常駐し、AIカメラによる離岸流の自動検知も導入されるなど、家族連れへの気配りが行き届いています。水質や安全管理などの国際環境認証「ブルーフラッグ」を掲げる、日本を代表するビーチのひとつ。砂浜には海の家が立ち並び、食事や休憩、温水シャワーも利用できます。波打ち際の水遊びから砂のお城づくりまで、夕方まで思いきり夏を満喫しましょう。
Tips
長谷駅または和田塚駅から徒歩5分ほど。遊泳は無料で、海の家の休憩やシャワーは有料です。夏の砂浜は熱いのでビーチサンダル必携。日差し対策にパラソルやテントのレンタルも活用を。遊泳時間は17時までなので、着替えの時間も見込んで15分前には切り上げるのがおすすめ。混雑する週末は午後の方が駐車場が動きやすいものの、公共交通機関の利用が安心です。
Tips
Located conveniently between Hase Station and the Great Buddha, easy to visit on foot. The sea view from the observation platform is especially beautiful in afternoon light. The grounds have many stairs, so consult at the entrance if bringing a stroller.
Best time to visit
Approximately 45 minutes required. Stopping by in the 1 p.m. hour before swimming makes for a smooth day flow
