About this spot

A strange rock formation along the coast on the road heading from Kotohikihama toward Hamatsumeand Amino, named for its resemblance to a folding screen. The rock face, sculpted by waves over many years, is impressive, and just stopping to view it briefly gives you a sense of the dynamic coastline characteristic of Kyotango. The views from nearby high points and along the road are excellent, offering a landscape that previews the transparency of Hamatsumeuyukihigaura Beach waters. It's also enjoyable to ponder with children "how did this shape form?"

Tips

Since this is a viewing spot on the side of a coastal road, take care of passing traffic when stopping. Even a short stay is sufficient to enjoy it fully. In the heat of summer, don't forget a hat and drinks.

Best time to visit

Approximately 30 minutes required. It's just right for stopping during your travels.
