About this spot

This is a JR San-in Main Line railway bridge spanning the mouth where the Yura River flows into Wakasa Bay, known as a photo spot for its rare scenery of a train crossing right next to the sea. It has also been featured as a filming location for a movie, and even those who are not railway fans will find themselves reaching for their camera at the sight. From the beach at the foot of the bridge, you can also take in the horizon of Wakasa Bay, building your anticipation for Kanzaki Beach, your next destination. Visiting to coincide with a train's passing time will let you capture an even more striking photo.

Tips

You can view it from the road along the river mouth, but since cars pass through, hold small children's hands as you walk. Some footing can be slippery, so shoes that are easy to walk in are safer than sandals.

Best time to visit

About 45 minutes. Morning hours with front lighting are good for photography
