Cross the Bridge to Oshima Island. View the Pacific Ocean from the Mountain-Top Observatory
About this spot
Just after crossing Kesennuma Oshima Ohashi Bridge, Kameyama at 235 meters elevation is the symbol of Oshima island. From the observation deck at the summit, you can view the vast Pacific Ocean, the complex coastline characteristic of ria coast topography, and even the white sandy beach of Oda-no-Hama, your destination. You can drive up to the summit and experience the richness of the island's nature while observing recovery efforts from the 2011 earthquake. Walking trails are maintained around the observatory, making it enjoyable for families to take a short walk.

気仙沼大島を代表するビーチで、2026年は7月17日(金)に海開きし、7月18日(土)から8月30日(日)まで遊泳できます。遊泳時間は基本9時から16時までで、土日祝と8月12日から14日のお盆期間は17時まで泳ぐことができます。真っ白な砂浜と遠浅で透明度の高い海が自慢で、環境省の水質判定でも高い評価を受けている美しいビーチです。シャワーやトイレ、海の家が整い、監視員も常駐しているので、小さな子ども連れでも安心して1日を過ごせます。遊泳は無料。橋を渡ってすぐの島とは思えない、本格的な海水浴が楽しめるコースのクライマックスです。
Tips
気仙沼大島大橋からは車で15分ほど。遊泳時間は基本16時まで(土日祝・お盆は17時まで)なので、着替えの時間を見込んで早めに切り上げましょう。海の家の休憩やシャワーは有料です。夏の砂浜は熱いのでビーチサンダルを忘れずに。
Tips
Approximately 20 minutes by car from Sea Market after crossing the bridge. The mountain-top can be windy, so bringing a light jacket is recommended. The road to the observatory has many curves, so drive slowly.
Best time to visit
Approximately 45 minutes required. From mid-morning through midday when the air is clear, you can see far into the distance.
