About this spot

A memorial museum introducing the life and works of Ryokan (良寛), the late Edo period Zen monk and poet born in Izumozaki Town. Standing on a rise overlooking the Sea of Japan, it presents his calligraphy, poetry materials and personal belongings in an easy-to-follow way. Exhibits that children can relate to, and the sea view from inside the museum, are highlights in their own right. Here you can spend a quiet moment in touch with the cultural side that is another face of Izumozaki Town.

Venue: 出雲崎町・出雲崎町民プール

2026年は7月18日(土)から8月23日(日)まで営業する出雲崎町民プールです。7月18日(土)〜20日(月・祝)はプレオープン期間、7月25日(土)からが本オープンとなります。25mプールでしっかり泳げるほか、小さな子ども向けのプレイプール、夏らしいウォータースライダーも揃っており、家族それぞれのペースで楽しめます。12:00〜13:00は休憩時間となるため、午後の再入場から夕方の営業終了まで、たっぷり水遊びを満喫できます。日本海沿いの町ならではの開放的な空気の中で過ごす、夏の思い出づくりにぴったりの時間です。

Tips

料金は町内在住者と町外者で異なり、町外の場合は大人400円・小中学生200円・幼児無料です。12:00〜13:00の休憩時間をまたぐ場合は再入場になるため、昼食のタイミングに注意してください。営業は16:00までなので、着替えや片付けの時間を見込んで15:30頃には切り上げるのがおすすめです。

Tips

The museum is meant to be viewed quietly, so it fits neatly in as a calm stretch of time before the pool. Stone monuments and poem steles connected with Ryokan (良寛) are also scattered around the grounds.
