About this spot

This is a hands-on facility where you can see and touch the fish and creatures that live in Lake Hamana. Beyond just watching fish in the large tank, there is a touch pool where you can touch starfish and sea cucumbers, which especially captivates younger children. There are also exhibits about the fish caught in Lake Hamana and how the fishing works, so it's a nice way to learn about the waters you'll be playing in before heading into the afternoon. Since it's indoor and air-conditioned, it also works well as a place to escape during the hottest part of the day. It's a compact facility, so you can see everything in about an hour.

Tips

Open from 9:00 to 16:30 (last admission 16:00). Admission is 320 yen for adults, and free for high school students and younger. Closed on Mondays, but open on public holidays, and open every day during summer vacation. After visiting, having lunch around Bentenjima Station and then heading over in time for the children's pool's 13:00 opening makes for a smooth flow. It's fine to leave your water-play change of clothes in the car until then.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. Comfortable to visit around 11:00 through just before noon, when the sun is strong
