About this spot
A mountain pass within the Kumano Kodo Ise Route, a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its exceptional beauty. Well-preserved Edo-period stone paving, surrounded by dense cedar forests that keep the air cool even in summer. Hiking just near the pass entrance provides ample atmosphere of the historic pilgrimage route and offers an ideal distance for light family hiking. Partway along the pass, there are spots with views of Owase Bay, allowing you to experience the essence of the Kumano Kodo walk conveniently.

2026年7月25日(土)開催、紀北町長島の夏を締めくくるきほく燈籠祭のクライマックスです。19時30分から20時30分まで、約3,000発の花火が熊野灘に面した長島港の夜空を彩ります。三方を山に囲まれたリアス海岸の港ならではの、音が反響する迫力ある花火が魅力です。熊野古道の散策から始まった1日の締めくくりにふさわしい、港町の夏の夜です。
Tips
荒天時は中止・順延の可能性があるため、当日の開催可否は紀北町の公式発表で確認を。終了後は港周辺の道路が混雑するため、少し余韻を楽しんでから帰路につくのがおすすめです。

The trailhead is approximately 15 minutes by car from Kii-Nagashima Manbou Station. Completing the entire route takes over an hour each way, so turning back partway depending on your schedule is recommended. Stone paths can be slippery in rainy weather, so wear comfortable hiking shoes.
Best time to visit
Approximately 2 hours required. Early afternoon offers pleasant dappled sunlight and comfortable walking.
