About this spot

This port is on the eastern side of Osaki Kamijima, an island in the Seto Inland Sea with no bridge connection. It serves ferries on the Omishima Blue Line connecting Imabari Port and Munakata Port on Omishima, making it one of the island's gateways. Kinoe developed as a tide-waiting port and thrived through shipbuilding, and just behind the harbor an old townscape remains, with clusters of multi-story wooden buildings of three floors or more. This port is also the stage for the fireworks launch. As evening approaches, it gradually fills with locals and spectators, but since there are only a limited number of restaurants on the island, it's reassuring to finish dinner early.

Tips

Restaurants and shops on the island are few and can sell out quickly, so it's recommended to bring food in advance if possible. Secure your viewing spot early. Also check the location of restrooms before it gets dark.

About 2 hours. You can enjoy the transition from the port's evening scenery around sunset into nighttime
