About this spot

Head to the Honmachi district, where the fireworks will launch, and enjoy the atmosphere of the Sumiyoshi Festival while having dinner. From evening, the area starts to fill with locals, and there's a sense of excitement unique to a festival in the air. It's also close to the Townscape Preservation District, so it's a good idea to wait for the show to begin while watching the townscape's expression change as the sun goes down.

Tips

From evening on the day of the festival, the roads around Honmachi get crowded, so allow plenty of time if traveling by car. It's reassuring to get food and drinks early. Also check the location of restrooms while it's still light out.
