About this spot

A cape jutting out to the east of Takeno Hama, located at Hyogo's northernmost point. Its name reportedly comes from its resemblance to a cat in a sitting position, and a white lighthouse stands at its tip. The entire cape is developed as a walking path, perfect for leisurely strolls with views of cliffs and the blue Japan Sea. It's an ideal distance to stretch your legs after swimming, and the sea breeze is pleasant even in summer. From the lighthouse's observation area, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Takeno's coastline—a popular spot for souvenir photos.

Tips

Walkable from Takeno Hama Beach, but the path has ups and downs, so comfortable shoes are recommended. Allow about an hour round trip to the lighthouse. In midsummer, there's little shade, so don't forget to hydrate.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. In the afternoon's soft light, the sea's blue appears especially vivid.
