Try Gold Panning in the Rekifune River, Selected as Japan's Clearest Stream
About this spot
The Rekifune River (歴舟川) has been selected as Japan's clearest stream by the Ministry of the Environment's water quality surveys. It boasts clear water and abundant natural beauty. Gold panning is available along the riverbank; using special tools, you scoop bowl-shaped portions of sand from the river bottom, then gently swirl it in the water to search for glimmering gold dust. Touching the cold, crystal-clear water while hunting for gold is an experience that captivates both children and adults alike. If you're lucky, you can even take home some small gold dust as a souvenir.

Tips
Tips
Bring clothing you don't mind getting wet, a change of clothes, and a towel. Even in summer, the river water is cold, so be cautious with prolonged water activities. The location and hours for gold panning may vary depending on the season and river conditions, so it's best to confirm in advance.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Late afternoon when the sun is less intense is more comfortable
