This is the government office serving as the administrative center of Taiki Town; the new building began operating in July 2023. It incorporates ZEB Ready design, using LED lighting and geothermal energy to keep energy consumption lower than typical buildings. On the evening of the fireworks display, the area around the venue gets crowded, so it's reassuring to have a meal here in the town center a little early. After eating, move to the riverbed of the Rekifune River (歴舟川) and secure your viewing spot while listening to the murmur of the clear stream.
Tips
Even in midsummer, Hokkaido nights can turn chilly, so don't forget a jacket. The riverbed can be uneven underfoot in places, so wear comfortable walking shoes. Claiming a spot early, before sunset, is your best bet.
Best time to visit
About 2 hours 45 minutes needed. After finishing dinner, allow plenty of time to move to the riverbed.
