About this spot

A unique freshwater and saltwater aquarium located at the high altitude of 725 meters. You can interact with marine creatures such as seals from Lake Baikal and penguins, which you wouldn't expect to find in the mountains. The interior is air-conditioned and cool, making it comfortable to spend time even on hot summer days. Taking advantage of the location by Lake Ashi, the exhibits offer a unique aquarium experience only found in this region.

Tips

Located within the Hakone-en grounds, it's close to the ropeway station for smooth transfers. It's recommended to visit soon after opening during the summer vacation period, as it can get crowded.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes required. Morning hours are relatively quiet, allowing for leisurely viewing.
