A ropeway that ascends from Hakone-en directly to the mountain peak. The view from the gondola is spectacular, and once at the top, a grand panorama overlooking Lake Ashi spreads out before you. On clear days, you can see as far as Mount Fuji, allowing you to experience Hakone's majestic natural landscape. There's also a small shrine at the peak where you can pause and enjoy the scenery.
Tips
Departs from a station within walking distance from the Hakone-en Aquarium. The summit is cooler than the valley below, so a lightweight jacket is reassuring. During busy times, wait times for boarding can occur.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes required. In the clear afternoon air, you'll have far-reaching views.
