Visit the Kannon Hall Preserving the History of the Great 1783 Mount Asama Eruption

A Kannon Hall preserving the history of Kamahra Village, which was buried under debris avalanche from the great 1783 Mount Asama eruption. Of the originally 50 stone steps, the lower sections where most villagers lost their lives while evacuating have been buried by earth and sand, and the remaining 15 steps speak to the magnitude of the tragedy. Because some villagers who climbed to the top of the steps survived, the Kannon is also revered as a deity of 'good matchmaking' and 'protection of life.' A precious historic site unique to Tsumagoi Village where you can quietly learn about the history of natural disasters.

吾妻川の河川敷を会場に開催される、嬬恋村最大の夏祭りのフィナーレを飾る花火大会です。2026年8月1日(土)19時から20時まで、標高の高い高原の澄んだ夜空に約1,800発の花火が次々と打ち上がります。周囲を山々に囲まれた会場ならではの、音がよく響く迫力の観覧体験ができるのが魅力です。避暑地らしい涼しい夜風の中で見上げる花火は、平地の花火大会とはひと味違う爽やかさに包まれています。

Tips

嬬恋村役場周辺から車で約10分。会場周辺の駐車場は限られているため、早めの到着がおすすめです。標高が高く夜は冷え込むことがあるので、羽織ものを忘れずに。荒天時は中止や延期の場合があるため、開催可否は嬬恋村の公式発表で確認してください。

About 10 minutes' drive from the Tsumagoi Local Historical Museum. Nearby facilities also allow you to view excavated dwelling remains. Please visit with quiet reverence, keeping the historical background in mind.
