About this spot

A historic small hot spring town nestled quietly in the mountains of Aoki Village (青木村). With just a few old-fashioned hot spring inns lining a quiet street, its charm lies in an unspoiled atmosphere that hasn't become overly touristy. Walking along the street while listening to the murmur of a clear stream lets you forget the everyday hustle and enjoy a relaxed pace of time. It's a perfect spot to rest before heading to your next destination, while feeling the atmosphere characteristic of a Shinshu (信州) mountain village.

Tips

About a 10-minute drive from Daiho-ji Temple (大法寺). The route passes through mountain roads, so drive carefully. There are limited places to eat and drink, so bringing your own beverages is recommended.

Best time to visit

About 45 minutes. With plenty of tree shade, it's relatively comfortable even during summer daytime hours.
