About this spot

The leading hot spring resort in Aoki Village (青木村), where a charming street lined with wooden hot spring inns still remains today. Known as a historic hot spring resort once loved by many writers, it is characterized by strongly retaining the atmosphere of an old-fashioned therapeutic hot spring retreat. As you walk along the street, you can feel the charming presence of the wooden architecture and the quiet air of the mountains. It makes for a relaxed stretch of time to savor the atmosphere of a mountain village ahead of the summer festival.

Tips

About a 10-minute drive from Kutsukake Onsen (沓掛温泉). There are some slopes, so wear comfortable walking shoes. There are limited places to eat and drink, so bringing your own beverages is recommended.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. The soft afternoon light beautifully illuminates the wooden townscape.
