About this spot
A traditional shopping street that spreads out immediately after exiting JR Iyo-Saijo Station. Saijo City is also known as the "City of Water," where clear groundwater springs forth in many places throughout town. In front of the station, a lineup of restaurants, Japanese sweet shops, and local souvenir stores create a leisurely atmosphere perfect for beginning your journey. Since the fireworks festival will become quite lively from evening onward on the day of the event, it's recommended to walk through the shopping street during the daytime first to acclimate to Saijo's atmosphere. The Tourism Information Center inside the station also provides information about the sightseeing spots you'll visit next.

石鎚山から流れる加茂川の河畔を舞台に、毎年夏に開催されてきた西条市民納涼花火大会です。中堤防一帯が観覧エリアとなり、川面に花火の光が映り込む様子を間近で楽しめるのが魅力。打ち上げ数は公表されていませんが、夜空いっぱいに広がる花火と川のせせらぎが重なる時間は、名水のまち西条ならではの夏の風物詩です。昼から続いた1日の締めくくりにふさわしい、静かで美しいフィナーレになります。

会場周辺は当日大変混雑するため、早めに到着して場所を確保するのがおすすめです。荒天時は中止や延期の可能性があるため、当日は西条市の公式発表を確認しましょう。終了後は河川敷から道路に出るまで時間がかかることがあるので、時間に余裕を持って行動を。
