About this spot

This time-honored shopping street spreads out right outside JR Iyo-Saijo Station. Saijo City is also known as the City of Water, a town where clear groundwater springs up all over. In front of the station, restaurants, Japanese confectionery shops, and local souvenir stores line up, giving off a relaxed atmosphere perfect for the start of a trip. Since the area gets much busier from evening onward on the day of the fireworks festival, it's a good idea to walk the shopping street during the day first to get a feel for Saijo. The Tourist Information Center inside the station also has information on the sightseeing spots you'll visit next.

Tips

Right by JR Iyo-Saijo Station. Checking how to get to Uchinuki and Ishizuchi Shrine at the station's Tourist Information Center makes your later moves smoother. Restaurants can get crowded around lunchtime, so an earlier visit is recommended.

About 1 hour. It's relatively calm to walk around from morning through early afternoon.
