About this spot

The area around Sakudaira Station (佐久平駅), where the Hokuriku Shinkansen (北陸新幹線) also stops, is one of the more newly developed parts of Saku City. It has a cluster of shops and restaurants, making it a good place for a break or shopping before the fireworks festival. The plaza in front of the station is open and spacious, well-suited for a family breather. It is also a convenient location for moving on to the Chikuma River (千曲川) riverbed toward evening.

Tips

About a 20-minute drive from Tatsuoka Castle Goryokaku (龍岡城五稜郭). Parking can get crowded during the summer vacation season. It is about a 15-minute drive to the next stop, the Chikuma River (千曲川) riverbed.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 30 minutes. Later in the afternoon, it is relatively calm.
