This guesthouse, located in the old town of Mori Town, Shizuoka Prefecture, makes charming use of a traditional townhouse. The first floor serves as a shared space that doubles as a residence and a place for community interaction, while the second floor holds Japanese-style rooms and dormitory-style guest accommodations; it's run by someone who also works as a relocation coordinator for Mori Town. Nearby, koji shops, Japanese and Western confectionery stores, gelato shops, and a penny-candy cafe are dotted around, making for an enjoyable food-hopping stroll. Since the area around the festival venue gets crowded from evening on the day of the fireworks, it's best to take a leisurely walk here during this time slot.

Tips

About a 10-minute drive from Koshoji Temple (香勝寺). Parking is limited, so it's reassuring to arrive early. It's within walking distance of the Ota River riverbed (太田川河川敷).

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 15 minutes. In the later afternoon, the sunlight softens, making it more comfortable to walk around.
