About this spot

A small unmanned station on the JR Ibusuki-Makurazaki Line, known as Japan's southernmost railway station. Standing on the platform reveals Mount Kaimon's beautiful conical shape in full view, attracting many travelers for commemorative photos. A "yellow mailbox delivering happiness" is also installed here, making it a perfect spot to capture travel memories. During the evening journey, take a moment to etch Mount Kaimon's image into your memory.

2026年8月11日(火)開催、薩摩富士とも呼ばれる開聞岳のふもとで行われる花火大会です。約1,100発の花火が山の稜線を背景に打ち上がり、海辺の花火大会とは違う、静かで力強い迫力を感じられます。山に囲まれた立地のため花火の音が反響し、体の芯まで響くような臨場感も魅力です。フィナーレの連発を見届けたら、家族で夏の思い出を胸に帰路につきましょう。

Tips

荒天時は中止や延期の可能性があるため、当日は指宿市の公式発表を確認しましょう。終了後は駐車場や周辺道路が混み合うため、少し時間を置いてからの移動がおすすめです。山麓の夜道は暗いので足元にご注意を。

About 10 minutes by car from Haikoku Shrine. Be mindful of train arrivals and departures at this unmanned station. Parking is limited, so please share spaces respectfully during busy times.
