About this spot

This area still retains the townscape of samurai residences that were established as a base of regional rule during the Tosa domain era. The street, lined with residences surrounded by long stretches of roughly-stacked stone walls, earthen walls, and bamboo fences, conveys the atmosphere of the Edo period just as it was. Combined with the history of Nahari Town flourishing as a production area for 《Tosa Bincho charcoal》, it's a spot where you can enjoy a quiet walk through town.

Tips

About a 20-minute drive from Monet's Garden (モネの庭). The townscape is still a place where people actually live, so please view it from the street without entering private property. There's little shade in summer, so remember to stay hydrated.

Best time to visit

About 45 minutes. The soft afternoon light makes the shadows on the stone walls look beautiful.
