World Heritage Ancient Temple with Japan's Tallest Five-Story Pagoda

世界遺産・西本願寺の北境内地を会場に、毎年夏に開かれる納涼盆踊りです。2026年は7月30日(木)・31日(金)の2日間、16時から20時40分まで開催され、境内には屋台が並び、地域の人々や観光客で賑わいます。世界遺産の荘厳な建物を背景に、櫓を囲んで踊りの輪が広がる光景は、京都の夏ならではの趣があります。1日かけて巡ってきた下京エリアの寺社めぐりの締めくくりに、家族で盆踊りの輪に加わってみましょう。
Tips
京都駅からも徒歩圏内でアクセス良好です。屋台の営業時間はイベント時間内に限られるため、夕食を兼ねる場合は早めの来場がおすすめです。世界遺産の境内であることを踏まえ、マナーを守って楽しみましょう。

Toji Temple is about 15 minutes' walk from Kyoto Station, and bus access is also convenient. Note that the interiors of the Golden Hall, Lecture Hall, and the first floor of the five-story pagoda may only be open during special viewing periods, so checking ahead is recommended.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 50 minutes. The morning to early afternoon, before the sun becomes too strong, is recommended.
