A temple where bell cricket sounds echo year-round, famous for granting wishes
About this spot
Officially named Kegon-ji, this temple is affectionately called "Suzumi-ji" (Bell Cricket Temple) because beautiful bell cricket chirps echo throughout the year. Listening to the bell cricket sounds while enjoying the head priest's entertaining sermon is popular with many visitors. The temple grounds feature a Jizo statue wearing straw sandals—legend says it grants one wish. Conveniently located near Matsuo Taisha, making it ideal for a late afternoon visit before the evening festival.
