An arcade shopping street spreading through Sumoto's city center, retaining a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere. Lined with characterful buildings and signboards unique to Sumoto, which has long flourished as a castle town and port town, just walking through it lets you feel the town's history. Enjoy a leisurely stroll with your family while hunting for souvenirs and light snacks unique to Awaji Island. On the day of the festival, a festive mood gradually starts to build from midday onward.

Tips

Within walking distance of the Sumoto Castle Ruins. On the day of the festival, it gets crowded from evening onward, so it's recommended to finish your shopping during this earlier time slot. In summer, the arcade's shade makes it a comfortable place to be.

Best time to visit

Takes about 50 minutes. Just after midday is far easier to walk through than the evening.
