About this spot

This is the roughly 800-metre gently sloping approach that runs from Narita Station to Shinshoji Temple. The aroma of grilling eel drifts along the street, long-established shopfronts and souvenir stores line the way, and simply walking it lifts your spirits. Besides eel there is a wide choice including soba and sweets, so families with children will find places that are easy to walk into. There are also snacks for eating on the go, so this is a good place to buy treats to take to the park in the afternoon. Because buildings typical of a temple town still remain along the street, the scenery itself becomes a memory even while you eat.

Tips

Popular restaurants form queues around noon on weekends and holidays. Going in around 11:00 a.m., or shifting to after 1:00 p.m., shortens the wait. Eel can take a while to be served, so choose your restaurant based on whether your children can wait while hungry. Topping up drinks here for the afternoon water play is reassuring.

About 1 hour 5 minutes. To avoid the crowds, arriving around 1:00 p.m. is comfortable
