This workshop and museum keeps alive the papermaking techniques that have been passed down in Yatsuo since ancient times. It displays colorful washi paper products decorated with stencil dyeing, letting you appreciate the depth of Yatsuo washi as a traditional craft. You can sometimes watch papermaking in progress, giving you a close look at the handwork that has supported the hillside town's industry. Washi paper products that make perfect souvenirs are also available for purchase.
Tips
It's convenient to get to on foot or by car from Monmyoji Temple. The hall is mainly for viewing exhibits, so comfortable clothing is fine. If a hands-on activity is available, checking the schedule in advance will help things go smoothly.

About 45 minutes. The afternoon hours tend to be relatively calm for browsing.
