The central shopping district of Etchu Yatsuo has various eateries and souvenir shops set in traditional wooden townhouses characteristic of a sloped town. Being the opening day of the Owara Kazenobon, as evening falls, the entire town is filled with excitement heading toward the festival. After an early dinner and changing into a yukata, you'll be ready for the evening's dance viewing.

300年以上の歴史を持つとされる越中八尾を代表する行事で、2026年は9月1日から3日までの3日間開催されます。石畳の坂道が続く諏訪町本通りを中心に、三味線と胡弓が奏でる哀愁漂う旋律にのせて、編笠をかぶった踊り手たちが優雅に舞いながら練り歩きます。ぼんぼりの灯りに照らされた坂の町の町並みと、しなやかな踊りが織りなす光景は、日本情緒あふれる幻想的な雰囲気に包まれます。地元の各町内が守り伝えてきた踊りと唄が、初日から夜遅くまで坂の町に響き渡ります。
Tips
期間中は大変混雑するため、よい場所で見たい場合は早めに沿道へ向かいましょう。坂道が多いのでベビーカーでの移動は歩きやすいルートを選ぶのが安心です。夜は山あいの町らしく気温が下がることもあるので、羽織ものを用意しておくと快適です。

During the festival period, it becomes crowded in the evening, so it's safer to have dinner in the early 16:00 hour. Also use restrooms at this time to avoid rushing around later at the venue.
