This historic facility served as Tsuwano Domain's school, teaching a wide range of disciplines including Confucian studies, martial arts, and medicine. Mori Ogai also studied here. The simple yet sturdy wooden architecture reflects the Tsuwano Domain's values emphasizing education. Inside, visitors can see remnants of the fencing dojo and historical exhibits showcasing the castle town's role as an educational center.

津和野盆踊り大会は、掘割に鯉が泳ぎ白壁の土蔵が続く殿町通りを会場に開かれる、城下町らしい情緒あふれる夏祭りです。2026年は8月15日に開催され、地元の人々や旅行者が輪になって盆踊りを楽しみます。昼間に歩いた稲成神社や教会、旧宅と同じ町並みが、夜には提灯の灯りに照らされ、また違った表情を見せてくれるのがこのコースの醍醐味です。「山陰の小京都」ならではの、落ち着いた盆踊りの雰囲気を家族で味わってください。

殿町通りは道幅が狭いため、公共交通機関か少し離れた場所への駐車がおすすめです。荒天時の開催可否は主催者の発表を確認してください。
