A nationally designated Important Cultural Property that preserves and opens to the public the manor house of the Nagai family, who served as manor lord of this region during the Edo period. Walking through the tatami-mat rooms and gardens that convey the lifestyle of the time, you can feel the prosperity of Sadamitsu's past as a distribution center for tobacco and indigo. In the evening, the area in front of this manor becomes the venue for the Awa Odori Dance Competition, so seeing the quiet dignified appearance during the day will make the nighttime bustle even more impressive.

Venue: つるぎ町・貞光中央商店街、旧永井家庄屋屋敷

剣山の麓に広がるつるぎ町貞光地区で、町を挙げて開催される阿波踊り大会です。会場となる貞光中央商店街と旧永井家庄屋屋敷の周辺には、8月15日・16日の2日間、19時から21時半にかけて地元の連が集まり、鉦と太鼓のお囃子に合わせて踊りを披露します。昼間見学した歴史ある屋敷や二層うだつの町並みを背景に踊りが繰り広げられる光景は、この町ならではの情緒あふれる雰囲気です。都市部の大規模な阿波踊りとは違い、地域の人々との距離が近いアットホームな祭りを楽しめます。

Tips

会場周辺は当日交通規制がかかることがあります。夜間は町並みの奥まで街灯が少ない箇所もあるので、懐中電灯があると安心です。荒天時の開催可否は最新の案内で確認しましょう。

A few minutes' walk from Sadamitsu's townscape. Admission fee required. Some rooms in the manor have tatami-mat flooring, so there are areas where shoes must be removed.
