About this spot

Inspired by Ryotaro Shiba's novel 'Slope of the Clouds,' this museum introduces the lives of notable figures from Matsuyama during the Meiji period and the progress of modern Japan. The unique building designed by architect Tadao Ando, taking advantage of its triangular plot, is itself a sight worth seeing. The experience of ascending a spiral ramp while viewing exhibits is recommended for architecture-loving families. Located just beside Oodaidori, it offers smooth access to the night festival venue.

松山発祥の座敷遊び「野球拳」を踊りにアレンジしたユニークな祭りで、8月7日から9日までの3日間、大街道・千舟町・城山公園(堀之内地区)一帯を会場に開催されます。連ごとに趣向を凝らした衣装と振り付けで踊り手たちが商店街を練り歩き、沿道の観客も一緒になって手拍子で盛り上がります。城山公園会場にはキッチンカーが出店し、食事を楽しみながら祭りを見物できるのもこのイベントの魅力。松山城の天守を望む立地で行われる祭りは、昼間に登った城が夜には祭りの灯りに照らされる姿も楽しめます。

Tips

会場周辺は当日交通規制がかかることがあります。キッチンカーの営業時間や出店内容は日によって変わることがあるため、当日の案内を確認しましょう。夜間の移動は路面電車の運行状況もあわせて確認を。

Tips

It's convenient to travel from Dogo Onsen by tram toward Oodaidori. Museum admission is required. The air-conditioned interior is ideal for resting from summer street walking.
