This historical park, built on the former site of Nishio Castle, sits in the heart of Nishio City, also known as the Little Kyoto of Mikawa. Reconstructed buildings such as the Shinchakumon Gate (鍮石門) and the Ninomaru Ushitora Turret (二之丸丑寅櫓) stand in a row, conveying the look of an Edo-period castle and making it perfect for a family history stroll. The grounds are compact rather than sprawling, so it's easy to explore even with small children. Take your time savoring Nishio's historic townscape as the start of your summer day.
Tips
About a 15-minute walk from Meitetsu Nishio Station; also convenient by car. The grounds are paved and easy to walk, with plenty of shaded spots. Shokoso, your next stop, is just a short walk away.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour. It's relatively uncrowded and easy to explore from morning through midday.
