This facility showcases the history and production process of "Kumejima Tsumugi" (Kumejima Pongee), an Okinawan textile designated as a nationally Important Intangible Cultural Asset. You can observe the entire process from plant-based dyeing to hand-weaving, and during certain periods, you can try your hand at traditional weaving. Learning about Kumejima's traditional crafts, which have continued since the Ryukyu Kingdom era, will deepen your appreciation of the island's rich culture.

久米島町のふれあい公園を会場に、毎年9月上旬に開催される島最大級の祭りです。2026年は9月5日・6日の2日間で開催予定。地元の青年会によるエイサー演舞やパレード、多彩な芸能ステージが繰り広げられ、島に暮らす人も観光客も一体となって夏の終わりを盛大に祝います。離島ならではのアットホームな雰囲気の中、太鼓の音とともに島全体が熱気に包まれる一日です。
Tips
会場周辺の駐車場には限りがあるため、早めの来場が安心です。夜でも蒸し暑さが残るので、水分補給を忘れずに。フェリーや飛行機で来島する場合は、最終便の時間を事前に確認しておきましょう。
Tips
About 15 minutes by car from Meefugaa. Reserve in advance if you wish to participate in weaving experiences. The air-conditioned interior is also a nice refuge from the midday heat.

About 50 minutes. Afternoon is ideal for a leisurely exploration.
