This is the administrative center of Hino Town, known as the hometown of the Omi Hino merchants. A town-run bus connects here from Omi Railway Hino Station, with a bus stop named 'Hino Town Hall,' and the town library is just a short walk away. Its large parking lot is also used as the venue for the Ujisato Matsuri festival, making it an open space that serves as the stage for the town's major events. As evening approaches, the whole town becomes quietly charged with anticipation ahead of the Hiburi Matsuri, and you can spend a relaxed stretch of time here before the festival begins in earnest.

Tips

It's within walking distance of the Omi Hino Merchant Museum. Roads in the area can get crowded on the day of the Hiburi Matsuri, so secure parking early. Finishing dinner by around 6:00 p.m. will make getting around afterward go more smoothly.

Best time to visit

About 2 hours 15 minutes. The townscape looks especially charming as the sun begins to set.
