About this spot

This feudal lord's garden was built in the early Edo period by the Oda clan, lords of the Obata Domain, and is designated a National Place of Scenic Beauty. The pond-strolling garden, arranged with an artificial hill and a teahouse around a central pond, is known for its seasonal beauty, and in summer, the deep green trees bring a sense of coolness. Simply taking a slow walk around the garden offers a luxurious moment to connect with the daimyo culture of the Edo period.

Tips

A parking lot is available, making it easy to visit by car. The garden is mostly shaded, but bring a hat and something to drink in summer.

Best time to visit

About 50 minutes. The quiet hours from morning into midday are best for strolling
