About this spot

This irrigation channel draws the clear water of the Ogawa River, chosen as one of Japan's Top 100 Water Sources, into the town, and it still flows quietly today along the former samurai residence district of the Obata Domain. Rows of white-walled earthen fences and old gated houses remain along the waterway, and the clear flowing water together with the stone walls conveys the atmosphere of the Edo period to this day. Looking into the water, you can even spot fish swimming, a refreshing spot that lets you briefly forget the summer heat.

Tips

A few minutes' walk from Rakusan-en. Since the water is also used for daily life, please observe good manners and view quietly.

About 35 minutes. Even during the strongest sunlight hours, the waterside stays relatively cool
